摘要 <p>A molecule that homologizes a genotype and a phenotype and is prepared by covalently joining the 3' end of a nucleic acid portion having a base sequence reflecting a genotype to the C-terminus of a protein portion containing a protein participating in phenotypie expression; and a method of constructing a molecule that homologizes a genotype and a phenotype, which comprises the steps of (a) preparing a DNA containing a gene free from termination codon, (b) transcribing the DNA into a RNA, (c) joining a spacer comprising a DNA-RNA chimera to the 3' end of the RNA, (d) further joining to the 3' end of the product of ligation a nucleoside or a substance having a chemical structure analogous to that of the nucleoside, the nucleoside and the substance analogous thereto being capable of forming a covalent bond with an amino acid or a substance having a chemical structure analogous to that of the amino acid, and (e) synthesizing a protein in a cell-free protein synthesis system by using the product of ligation as a mRNA to thereby join the gene-containing nucleic acid portion to the product of gene translation. This molecule is extremely useful in evolutionary molecular engineering for the modification of functional biopolymers, such as enzymes, antibodies and ribozymes, and the creation of biopolymers having functions which living organisms do not possess. &lt;IMAGE&gt;</p>
