Anthraquinone dyes - free of sulphonic gps, for colouring synthetic materials in orange to violet shades

The dyes are of formula (in which Ar is an arylene gp. opt. substd. with further non-ionogenic substits. Y is an acylamino gp. X1 is OH or amino, X2 is OH, amino or acylamino, and Z1-3 are each H or halogen) Y is pref. -NHQR (in which Q is -CO-, -SO2-, -CO2- or -CONH- and R is H or an aliphatic, aromatic or heterocyclic gp). or (in which U is -CO- or -SO2-, and B is a 2-5C hydrocarbon gp. opt. substd. by alkyl, or an opt. substd. or hydrogenated o-phenylene, or o- or peri-naphthylene gp). The cpds. are suitable for dyeing synthetic fibres, fabrics, films, etc. from hot aq. dispersions, followed by fixing at 190-220 degrees C. or for continuous dyeing of synthetic fibres from org. solns. Orange, red or violet shades of good fastness esp. to light, sublimation and thermofixing are obtained.
