The starter comprises a high-speed motor with one coupling half located in an imaginary extension of the turbine shaft axis (4). Together with a second coupling half on the shaft, the first half forms a coupling, which engages via an axial movement. An motor may be an electric motor (11) that rotates the jet engine via a clutch which is movable in axial direction. The motor has a screw coupling (12), moved by mass inertia in the axial direction. When the motor is started, the coupling moves in direction of the compressor nut (7) of the turbine shaft, and together with it forms a friction clutch, to rotate the turbine. |
