PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To always perform constant dressing by dressing a first grinding wheel by a second grinding wheel to be energized by the first grinding wheel and having adhesive grains finer than those of the first grinding wheel and polishing a workpiece while dressing the first grinding wheel. SOLUTION: When a second grinding wheel 3 is gradually worn after the second grinding wheel 3 dresses a first grinding wheel 2, a coil spring 4 for energizing the second grinding wheel 3 is extended, and pressing force is decreased. At this time, a signal indicative of the decrease of pressing force of the coil spring 4 is input from a load cell 6 connected to a washer 5 into an amplifier 9. A solenoid valve 10 is operated according to the signal input in the amplifier 9, the coil spring 4 is again compressed by the introduction of air into an air cylinder 7 and the advance of the washer 5 in the cylinder 6, and the second grinding wheel 3 is pressed to the first grinding wheel 2 by initial pressing force. Therefore, variations in grinding to a workpiece 1 is eliminated when the first grinding wheel 2 grinds the workpiece 1, and grinding accuracy is improved. |
