PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering device for a vehicle, having a sure fail-safe function, and capable of attaining lightening of weight and reducing of a cost. SOLUTION: This steering device for a vehicle is provided with a steering command detection means 12b detecting a steering angle command value input to a steering wheel by mechanically separating the steering wheel 12 inputting the steering angle command value and steering mechanisms 6a, 6b steering a steering wheel 7, and a steering actuator 6 driving the steering mechanisms 6a, 6b based on the steering angle command value detected by the steering command detection means. The steering device for a vehicle is further provided with brake control means 5, 14 controlling brake force of each wheel 7, 8 to an arbitrary value and a running control means 9 controlling a command value to the brake control means so as to turn the vehicle when the steering actuator is in abnormality.
