PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject ink having excellent dispersibility of pigment or disperse dye, capable of exhibiting excellent printing qualities and storage stability, by including a pigment or a disperse dye, a dispersant composed of a specific compound and water. SOLUTION: This ink comprises (A) a pigment or a disperse dye (one preferably having <=100 nm particle diameter), (B) a dispersant of formula I (R1 is an aromatic ring or a hydrocarbon; X is H or methyl; (n) is 10-200; R2 is a hydrocarbon; Y is H, Na, Li, a quaternary ammonium or the like) (one having preferably 1,000-10,000 molecular weight) and (C) water. A dispersant of formula II may be cited as the dispersant of formula I. Preferably the amount of the component C used is 0.1-20 wt.% based on the whole ink composition, the amount of the component B added is 0.1-20 wt.% based on the whole ink composition and the weight ratio of the component A to the component B is 1:5 to 20:1. Consequently an ink suitable for an ink-jet recording method can be provided. |
