PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recorder and a method for ink jet recording capable of reducing cost of an electric hardware, preventing an increase in an operation time by a software, obtaining sufficient water resistance by applying a sufficient amount of a treatment liquid and preventing increase of running cost due to the increase of a consumption amount of the treatment liquid by avoiding unnecessary applying of the treatment liquid. SOLUTION: A data generating means 1001 for a treatment liquid generates quantized data for the treatment liquid based on n-valued quantized data for ink. The data for the ink and the data for the treatment liquid is assigned to a matrix consisting of a plurality of pixels in accordance with the quantized data for the ink and treatment liquid and a head control means 1005 controls a head based on the assigned data.
