Diaminoethylene derivatives of the formula: (see formula I) wherein R1 is a heterocyclic group which may be substituted, R2, R3 and R4 are a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon group which may be substituted or R3 and R4 are combined to form a cyclic amino group together with the adjacent nitrogen atom; R5 is hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon group or heterocyclic group which may be substituted, X is an electron attractive group; Y is a hydroxyl or substituted hydroxyl group, amino or substituted amino group or mercapto or substituted mercapto group; n is d or 1; or their salts, which are useful as insecticides.
