PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an excess current from being generated even when an inter-terminal shortcircuit occurs due to the adhesion of a conductive ink to a spot between terminals and thereby improve the safety and the reliability of an ink jet printer, in an ink discharge and recording device which enables attaching and detaching of a printing head. SOLUTION: This ink jet printer is equipped with a support member 9 having a printing means 8 mounted in a freely detachable manner. When a short circuit abnormality occurs between signals due to the adhesion of a conductive ink to a printing head terminal 5 as a first signal terminal part and a support member terminal 4 as a second signal terminal part, an excess current is prevented from flowing to an electric power supply means and a control means by a protecting means. |
