PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new oligonucleotide having a specific base sequence and useful for detecting Pseudomonas aeruginosa which is one of causative bacteria of opportunistic infection derived from a 16SrRNA gene of the Pseudomonas aeruginosa. SOLUTION: This oligonucleotide is a new one having a base sequence represented by the formula and corresponding to a sense strand of the base Nos. 138-156 of a 16SrRNA gene of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and is called Bacillus pyocyaneus and a Gram-negative bacillus widely present in environment such as mainly water or soil and is used for a detection method, etc., with a high specificity for the Pseudomonas aeruginosa which is one of causative bacteria of opportunistic infection. The oligonucleotide is obtained by procuring the 16SrRNA sequences of bacteria of the genus Pseudomonas from gene databases, carrying out detailed comparison, finding out a sequence specific for the Pseudomonas aeruginosa and chemically synthesizing the oligonucleotide according to a phoshoramidite method. |
