PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide both a method for producing a carbonaceous material by which the carbonaceous material having a higher density and a higher capacity than those of carbon and a flat discharge potential and further excellent in cycling characteristics when used as a negative electrode material for a lithium ion secondary battery can be obtained and the lithium ion secondary battery having excellent characteristics by using the carbonaceous material obtained thereby. SOLUTION: This method for producing a carbonaceous material comprises a step for adding at least any one of a baron compound and an aluminum compound or a nitrogen-containing compound to a liquid pitch, then heat-treating the resultant mixture and providing a pitch having a high softening point, a step for solidifying the pitch having the high softening point and subsequently pulverizing the solidified pitch to fine particles, a step for carrying out the oxidizing treatment of the obtained pulverized material and a step for carbonizing and graphitizing the resultant oxidation treated material. The lithium ion secondary battery comprises the produced carbonaceous material as a constituent material of a negative electrode. |
