PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a glass composition capable of forming, in combination with an alumina filler through controlling crystallization, ceramics high in mechanical strength, good in compatibility with gold and silver, and slight in loss, by including B2 O3 , respective oxides of univalent and bivalent alkaline earth metals (MIIO and MI2 O), a rare earth metal oxide (Ln2 O3 ) and Al2 O3 . SOLUTION: This glass composition comprises 50-67 mol.% B2 O3 , 20-50 mol.% MIIO, 2-15 mol.% Ln2 O3 , 0-6 mol.% MI2 O and 0-10 mol.% Al2 O3 . Using this glass composition, ceramic tapes with slight loss can be obtained; that is: a dielectric composition prepared by homogeneously compounding a mixture comprising 25-50 wt.% of the glass composition and 50-75 wt.% of a refractory oxide (e.g. alumina filler, Cu2 O) with an organic polymeric binder (e.g. a copolymer of methyl methacrylate and methacrylic acid), a plasticizer (e.g. dibutyl phthalate) and a volatile organic solvent (e.g. ethyl acetate) is cast. |
