<p>Surface of e.g. metal grid filter screen, plane or curved, is swept by cleaning rake suspended from endless chains, the rake contacting the screen only during upward traverse. Chains are driven by top sprockets, (through chain drive to electric motor with reduction gear), and each passes round one idler when screen is planar, or two when curved, idlers being under spring tension. Filter area is extended above liquid level by a plane sheet over which filtered material is drawn to top edge, where rake becomes free to assume a vertical position and is cleaned by action of a secondary swinging rake, so that all material is transferred to a suitable receiver, e.g. a mobile truck.</p> |
