<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make equipment smaller and to reduce initial and running casts by constituting a microorganism holding carrier with a slender hollow supporter having a number of small holes, a gas permeable membrane stuck on the outer face of the supporter, and a microorganism deposited or fixed on the outside of the gas permeable membrane, and ventilating a pressure gas in the supporter. SOLUTION: An immobilized microorganism holding carrier 6 is provided with a supporter 1, a gas permeable membrane 4, and an aerobic microorganisms 5. The supporter 1 has a U-shaped part 2 which is formed in a slender and hollow shape such as a cylinder, wherein its both ends are opened and a gas is ventilated inside. A number of small holes 3 are formed in the U-shaped part 2. The gas permeable membrane 4 transmits oxygen but not a liquid with a Teflon membrane or the like uniformly stuck on the outer side face of the U-shaped part 2. The aerobic microorganism 5 is uniformly fixed outside of the gas permeable membrane 4 by a polymer or the like. And, the U-shaped part 2 is dipped in treated water 8 in a water tank 7 while positioning openings at the both ends above the surface of the water, and pressure air is supplied to the supporter 1 from the one opening with a compressor 9.</p> |
