摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydraulic control device for a vehicular automatic transmission, which prevents the occurrence of engaging shock at the starting gear step, and well prevents the durability of a starting hydraulic type friction engaging device accomplishing the action of the aforesaid starting gear step from being degraded even when a shift lever is switched over to a running range from a non-running range, and even if an accelerator pedal is simultaneously stepped on. SOLUTION: When a shift lever 84 is switched over to a D range from an N range, an oil passage feeding working oil to a clutch acting as a starting hydraulic type friction engaging device, is switched over to a large orifice condition by a large orifice switch-over means 306 when shifting is actuated, working oil is quickly fed to the clutch, and shift to a first gear step is accomplished in an early stage, the period of time required for shifting where shift shock takes place due to the simultaneous stepping of an accelerator pedal, is shortened, and concurrently, the quantity of energy absorption at the time of clutch engagement is thereby reduced, and the durability of the clutch can thereby be well prevented from being degraded.
