The present invention is directed toward a method of treating or inhibiting abnormal cardiac growth. Specifically, the invention involves inhibition of the 12-lipoxygenase pathway or action of 12-lipoxygenase products, to reduce or eliminate 12-lipoxygenase pathway mediated cardiac hypertrophic effects at a cellular level.
