An arrangement for loading and unloading a wheel-supported vehicle (70) onto and from a railroad truck (1), wherein the truck (1) includes a chassis (2) which carries a vehicle associated, generally rectangular loading platform (3), means (26, 27, 28, 29, 73, 74, 75, 76, 35) for displacing the platform (3) on said chassis, and a ramp (5) for driving the vehicle between the platform and a supportive surface (50) externally of the truck. A pivot mounting (21, 32) is located between one corner of the chassis (2) and a corresponding corner of the loading platform (3), thereby enabling the platform (3) to be swung out over the adjacent long side of the truck (1) about said pivot bearing. |
