The elastic bearing consists of a rigid frame with opposite-lying bearings and a rigid lever with adjacent bearings that are connected by means of several stretched fibres. The moment of force of the weight of the lever body and a test body on the longer lever arm is compensated by the moment of force pertaining to the tensile forces of the fibres by means of small lever arms that form the adjacent bearings. The tensile forces of the fibres are compensated externally by the reaction forces of the frame. The own weight of the moveable part, irrespective of the position of the frame and lever, thus creates a self-closing bearing. When the opposite-lying bearings are arranged horizontally and the lever body is oriented vertically, the lever body oscillates in a pendular manner around the normal. The vertically oriented lever body forms the torsion pendulum. When the opposite-lying bearings are arranged vertically and the lever body is oriented vertically, the latter turns horizontally. The horizontally oriented lever body forms the one-armed torsion balance. |
