<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain immobilized animal cells having finely porous three- dimensional netty structure and useful as e.g. a pseudobiomaterial for therapies or the production of valuable physiologically active substances by subjecting a specified vessel with a granular carrier and animal cells suspended in a medium to centrifugal treatment. SOLUTION: A method for immobilizing animal cells comprises obtaining immobilized animal cells by immobilizing animal cells on a granular carrier having finely porous three-dimensional netty structure. More precisely, the objective immobilized animal cells are obtained by the following procedure: a specified vessel is packed with a granular animal cell-immobilizing carrier followed by inoculating animal cells upon the carrier at a count of >=2×107 per cm3 of the carrier so as to suspend the carrier and the animal cells in a medium and then subjecting the resultant vessel to centrifugal treatment under a centrifugal force of 100-500 G. The immobilized animal cells thus obtained can be suitably used for the production of valuable physiologically active substances, as a pseudobiomaterial intended for therapies, or in hybrid- type artificial organs or the like.</p> |
