The control system is used for a motor vehicle with a drive unit e.g. motor or IC engine (2), a clutch (3) and a gearbox (4). An operating unit, such as an actuator (13b) for operating engagement and disengagement of the clutch, is controlled by a control unit (13) with an electronic control unit (13a). Sensors (19a,19b) detect the selected gear position in the gearbox. With first gear or reverse gear applied in the gearbox, and with a running engine and unoperated accelerator and brake pedals, the torque transmitted by the clutch is increased, such that the vehicle creeps. Applying a higher gear, with the engine running and an unoperated accelerator and brake pedals, with speeds higher than a specified limit speed, the clutch transmits torque so that the vehicle creeps further. With speeds lower than the limit speed, the torque transmitted by the clutch is lowered, and no creeping of the vehicle from standstill results. |
