The lift machinery is housed in a flat box (23) that is fitted to the lift cabin, and has an asynchronous electric motor (10) that runs at high speed and is started unloaded and has a large flywheel. A magnetic powder clutch (14), a speed reducer (18) and a coupling pulley (20) form the transmission between the motor and the lift cabin. The operation is controlled by and expert system.
