The device consists of a rod (4), which is designed to be inserted into the interior of an elongated bait, such as a small fish, such as a minnow. The rod is fitted with the means to link it to the fishing line (2) and also a pipe (14) for the passage of a line (10, 12), which is mounted so as to slide within the rod, and which carries the hooks (6, 8), which are mounted in pairs, successively downstream of the pipe in the rod, in order to maintain the bait in a lateral position relative to the rod.
