A method for performing drying, by means of ultraviolet rays, of a layer of paint (1) applied onto a flat surface (2) is described, in which a sheet (4) of material transparent to the said rays is arranged between the source of ultraviolet rays (3) used and the said layer of paint (1), said sheet being kept facing and pressed against the layer of paint (1) itself for the period of time needed for the said drying process.
