1297550 Organotin stabilizer for halopolymers M & T CHEMICALS Inc 16 Dec 1970 [17 Dec 1969] 59762/70 Heading C3P A heat-stabilizer for halogen-containing polymers comprises a mixture of (i) an organo-tin compound having one direct carbon-to-tin bond, one direct halogen (other than fluorine)-totin bond and two direct sulphur-to-tin bonds end (ii) a compound of formula R 2 Sn(SR1) 2 , wherein each of R and R1 is alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, alkaryl or aralkyl, R1 alternatively being a radical of formula -R8-COOR9 where R8 and R9 are hydrocarbon groups. The polymer may be P.V.C. or polyvinylidene chloride, or copolymers of vinyl chloride or vinylidene chloride with other ethylenically unsaturated monomers such as vinyl acetate. The stabilizer (i) is preferably of the formula wherein R2, R3, R4 and R7 are hydrocarbon groups, R3 and R4 alternatively being radicals of formula -R5-COOR6 where R5 and R6 are hydrocarbon groups, and X is Cl, Br or I.
