An automotive gear box has two drive input shafts (10, 12) to the gears and a single output shaft (30). Each incoming drive shaft (10, 12) has a clutch (18, 20) linking the respective input shaft (10, 12) with the engine (16) crankshaft (14). An additional clutch (38) is positioned between the gear input shafts (10, 12). The clutch (38) transfers infinitely-variable torque from one drive input shaft (10, 12) to the other.
