The damping device has a compression piston (334) carried by a piston rod (366a, 366b) between two stops (366c, 366g) and fitted in such a way with regard to linear motion that, depending on the position of the piston on the rod, one of the through apertures (366f, 366e) is either covered or left open by the piston. The opening or closing of the through aperture can be delayed.
