After forming, groups of rings (38) are placed with relative distances on rails (36), extending from a carrier frame (34), subjected to heat and surface finishing in a dip tank, and are removed from the frame for packaging. The rings are held on the rails in defined angular positions. Each rail has an upper carrier part to hold the inner surface of the rings, and a lower holder part. This extends through each ring to hold it against turning.
