The arrangement has a damping arrangement (35) for damping the vibrations of the object passing along a traversal axis relative to the guide arrangement. The damping arrangement has more than 10, or preferably more than 100, elastic damping elements for making contact with the passing object. The damping elements are preferably statically distributed and may consist of the bristles of a brush arrangement. An Independent claim is also included for an arrangement for preferably magnetic, nondestructive testing of elongated objects, especially wires.
