Cryogenic tank with cellular insert

A cryogenic tank eg. for liquid hydrogen fuel for a vehicle, has evaporated gas held in the top part, at a higher temperature then the main part of the liquid. A vertical wall honeycomb insert (2) made of material with poor thermal conductivity, maintains the temperature gradient and prevents the liquid gas from moving too violently. The honeycomb extends to 80 to 95 percent of the height of the tank and has a mesh size of less than 10 mm.
