Medicinal compositions containing as the active ingredient pyrrole derivatives represented by general formula (1) or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof. In said formula, R<1> represents hydrogen or alkoxycarbonylamino; R<2> represents alkyl, optionally substituted aryl, optionally substituted heteroaryl, unsubstituted amino, monoalkylated amino, dialkylated amino or optionally substituted cyclic amino; R<3> represents cyano or carbamoyl; R<4> represents hydrogen or alkyl; E represents alkylene; q is 0 or 1; and A represents methyl, optionally substituted aryl or optionally substituted heteroaryl. These compositions are useful as cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitors.
