A high-hardness, high-strength, heat-resisting cutting tool consisting of a cBN sintered body of fine particles of not larger than 1 mu m and not containing a binder; specifically a milling or precision cutting tool characterized in that the cutting tool uses as its cutting edge a cubic system boron nitride sintered body consisting of cubic system boron nitride of an average particle size of 1 mu m or smaller, has a ratio I (220)/I (111) of a (220) diffraction strength (I (220)) of an arbitrary-direction X-ray diffraction line to a (111) diffraction strength (I (111)) of the cubic system boron nitride sintered body at the cutting edge of 0.05 or larger and does not substantially contain impurities in its grain boundary.
