Powder metallurgical starting material especially for producing aluminum oxide dispersion strengthened aluminum composite material used e.g. for engine and machine parts

A powder metallurgical starting material, comprising aluminum alloy powder and a small amount of aluminum oxide powder of specified particle size, is new. A powder metallurgical starting material contains 0.5-10 vol. % aluminum oxide powder, /}0.01 wt. % of which is of /- 30 microns size, and balance aluminum alloy powder. An Independent claim is also included for a powder metallurgical starting material production process which comprises dry ball milling of an aluminum alloy powder with an air classified aluminum oxide powder.
