DEVICE FOR MAINTAINING PARTS OF THE BODY IN A RAISED POSITION FOR MEDICAL THERAPEUTIC EXTENSION TREATMENT

The invention relates to a device (1) for maintaining parts of the body in a raised position for the purpose of medical therapeutic extension treatment. The patient (3) is located on an essentially vertical patient support (2). The device has maintaining elements (4) which are located above said patient support (2) and in which certain parts of the body (5, 6) can be placed and held up under the patient's (3) own weight (7), said maintaining elements (4) being supported in relation to the patient's (3) own weight (7). The aim of the invention is to improve a device of this type in such a way as to produce a manually and/or automatically operated, simple device which makes it possible to provide individually-adapted dynamic extension treatment automatically/preferably without any external operating interventions. To this end, a gear connection (8) with an oscillating drive mechanism (9) is provided on the maintaining elements (4) or the patient support (2). Said connection enables a relative movement (10) of the maintaining elements (4) and the patient support in a horizontal direction (11) to be impressed onto the maintaining elements (4) and/or the patient support by means of a component.
