Banknotes (3) advance in succession along respective ducts (11), with runouts (12) being equipped with respective rollers (13) positioned to pick up the notes, transfer them to each channel and stack them on a shelf (18). An occluding mechanism (20) operating at the inlet (8) of each channel causes groups of the notes to accumulate on the corresponding shelf. The groups are picked up by a gripper (27) and transported toward a banding station (32).
