<p>A method for efficiently transmitting binary data includes the step of maintaining, at the data source, an input buffer storing a first plurality of data tokens and an output buffer containing a second plurality of data tokens to be transmitted. The data target maintains a buffer containing a plurality of data tokens received by the receiver. The source determines if a data token triplet stored in the input buffer has been previously encountered. If it has, the data source inserts information into the output buffer identifying the number of data token triplets processed by the source since the triplet was last encoutered. If the triplet has not been previously encountered, the data source inserts a single data token into the output buffer. A related system and apparatus is also described.</p> |
