In a unitary presser plate and cover-plate assembly for a friction clutch wherein lugs 13 on a presser plate 10 are connected by tangential straps 17 to a cover-plate 11, clutch disengaging springs 26 are held between the lugs 13 and an additional strap 21 secured to the cover 11. When the assembly is secured to a driving flywheel (35) the ends 24 of the straps 21 bear on the flywheel and thus the clutch disengaging springs act between the flywheel and presser plate As shown, the clutch is engaged centrifugally by balls 30A, 30B. In Fig. 5 (not shown), the strap (17) and the spring supporting strap (121) are secured to the cover (11) by the same rivet (50) and the disengaging spring (26) acts between the strap (121) and an additional strap (125) secured to the lug (13).</p> |
