In a resiliently tuned inertia weight vibration damper for overhead transmission line cables, the inertia weight 10 houses a piston-cylinder liquid dashpot. The inertia weight 10 is tuned by a spring S which acts between a bored sleeve 18 closing the cylinder 12 and the piston 14 to oppose the force of gravity acting on the inertia weight. The inertia weight may be a concrete casting. The cylinder itself may be omitted (Figs. 3, 4, not shown) in which case the sleeve is force-fitted or keyed into the inertia weight.</p> |
