The device consists of a container (1) with a cleaning fluid-impregnated storage material (2). The material consists of two parts hinged together along one side, and the belt to be cleaned is placed between the two parts. The container also consists of two hinged parts. All components may be of the same material and may form one modular part. The outer surface of the device has a protective coating of a material, which is non-permeable to the cleaning fluid. The container is of paper, cardboard, the storage material is a fabric, textile material, carpet, and/or foam, and the cleaning fluid is water, alcohol, acetone and/or another volatile solvent.
