Electrochemical generator of volatile hydrides comprising an electrolytic cell having a concentric tubular configuration comprising a central cathode 6 which permits liquids to circulate through it. This cathode is contained within a microporous tube 2 surrounded externally by a spiral-shaped anode 7, all the components mentioned being contained within a tube of inert insulating material 1. Hydrogen is generated electrochemically within the cathode from a circulating acid solution, and the said hydrogen reacts with a chemical element present in the same solution to generate the corresponding hydride. <IMAGE>
