A hinge 40, comprising a pin 42 and a two-part housing 46 which restrains leaf-springs 44 against opposite sides of the hinge pin, pivotally connects the 'flip' portion of a mobile telephone to the main body. The hinge pin has four plane camming surfaces 58 which coact with the distal ends of the two leaf springs to urge the flip into a closed position, and once the flip has been manually opened past a certain position, to urge the flip into an open position in which the telephone can be used. A detent 56 on the hinge pin engages with a lip on the casing of the flip to prevent the flip being urged past the correct angle for use, however this may be overridden without damaging the telephone. |
