PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical disk capable of maintaining a normal surface characteristic by easily removing the contaminants adhered thereto. SOLUTION: The surface on the light incident side of the laser beam of the optical disk 1 which records or reproduces or records and reproduces information by irradiation with the laser beam is provided with a photocatalyst material layer 5 mainly composed of the material which is optically active with a UV region or visible light region. As a result, this photocatalyst material layer 5 is irradiated with activating light L, by which the photocatalyst material is activated and the contaminant adhered thereto are decomposed and removed. |
