PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote monitoring system to obtain numeric data from acquired image data and to enable monitoring by both of the numeric data and the image data in a remote monitoring system to perform monitoring by the image data. SOLUTION: Plural image pickup devices 11 to be installed at an observation point, a device of a monitoring station 3 to be connected with the image pickup device 11 via a communication channel 2 and image processing circuits to be provided for one or more image pickup devices, to recognize and read the numeric data on picked up still image data are included in the remote monitoring system. And a physical quantity measuring instrument to be installed at the observation point is picked up by the image pickup device 11 with which the image processing circuit is provided, the physical quantity to be indicated by the physical quantity measuring instrument is recognized by the numerical data and the numerical data is transmitted to the device of the monitoring station 3 together with the image data. |
