PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an easy-to-handle line selection technique which is realized by simple and inexpensive hardware and software. SOLUTION: A detection table consists of a detection number that corresponds to a telephone number to be converted into an access code of a communication provider, of a conversion instruction command for instructing a telephone number converting method at the time of detecting the detection number and of data of the access code of a communication provider which is used in telephone number conversion at the time of detecting the detection number; and the above table is stored as line selection information in a DRAM 27a. A telephone number inputted from an input device 22 is compared with the detection number, the telephone number is converted based on the conversion instruction command in the case of their coincidence, and an NCU 25 performs a call out by using the obtained telephone number. Line selection information is received to an SRAM 28a by using a facsimile procedure and is made effective together with the line selection information based on received updating date and hour data.
