<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a merging vehicle to smoothly enter a merging point when a group of vehicles passes the merging point in a file. SOLUTION: When a group 30 of vehicles approaches a merging point 23 while it is traveling on a lane 21 on the merging side of a road 20, information regarding time to taken the merging vehicle 25 traveling on a merging road 24 to reach the merging point 23 is received. Position information, etc., of the merging vehicle 25 are received by communication between the vehicles and communication between the vehicle and the road by respective vehicles 31, 32,.... When a vehicle in the midst of a file of the group 30 of vehicles reaches the merging point 23 at time which is the nearest to the merging vehicle 25, the file is split at the position of the vehicle. Since the file is split and a space is formed between the vehicles, the merging vehicle 25 can safely and smoothly enter the lane 21 at the merging side. If the vehicles can change the lane to a fast lane 22 which is different from the lane 21 at the merging side, the merging vehicle 25 is allowed to enter the lane 21 at the merging side without splitting the file by change of the lanes.</p> |
