PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To excellently reproduce the skin color of a human image included in an image irrelevantly to the state of the image such as underexposure and backlight. SOLUTION: In the image processing method, image data S are inputted to a face area extracting means 4 of an image processing means 2 to extract face area image data SH corresponding to the face area of the human image and an image state judging means 5 acquires characteristic values such as the dispersion value and mean density value of the face area image data SH and obtains the degree of the image state of the face area image data SH from the relation to the rate of the characteristic values and image state. A correcting means 6 calculates a weight coefficient α for performing weighted addition of skin color image data H representing a skin color image stored in a memory 7 to the face area image data SH from the image state and performs the weighted addition of the skin color image data H to face area image data SH using the weight coefficient α to obtain corrected face area image data SH'. Image data S of an area other than the face area are corrected if necessary and the corrected image data and corrected face area image data SH' are added together to obtain processed image data S'. |
