Date Apr. 25, 1996The present invention relates to a process for obtaining polyarylene sulfide from polyarylene sulfide-containing material. For this purpose, the polyarylene sulfide-containing material is treated with a solvent in which it dissolves, and is subsequently reprecipitated. The invention also relates to the purification of polyarylene sulfide-containing material by separating off extraneous substances, to polyphenylene sulfide particles having a specific surface area of at least 80 m2/g and to their use as filter material.
