The invention refers to an electronic labelling system for motor vehicles, which is capable of identifying a vehicle. According to the invention, the system consists of two independent units, of which the first one (U1) is placed inside the vehicle and the second one (U2) is carried by the vehicle owner. The first unit (U1) is composed of a power source (A), a radio frequency receiver (B) which, upon receiving the adequate code, couples to a power source (C) and a transmitter (D), capable of transmitting the recognition signal typical of the vehicle. The second unit (U2) consists of a power source (S.A.), a coded signal generator (G.S.C.) for the activation of the first unit (U1) and a coded signal receiver (R.S.C.) which is activated upon receiving the code of the desired motor vehicle.
