PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease comet-like defects and to improve the yield by storing a coating liquid which is prepared by dissolving dyes and additives in a solvent, at a specified temp. for specified time just before spin coating when an optical recording layer is to be formed by spin coating. SOLUTION: The optical recording layer of an optical information recording medium is formed by applying a coating liquid prepared by dissolving dyes and additives in a solvent on a light-transmitting substrate by spin coating. To dissolve the dyes and additives in a solvent, an ultrasonic vibrating device is used. The coating liquid is stored at the storage temp. within±10 deg.C difference from the coating temp. just before coating, and preferably within±5 deg.C, and more preferably±2 deg.C. The storage period is between >=10 hours and <=3 weeks, preferably >=10 hours and <=1 week. The layer thickness of a base coating layer is preferably 0.005 to 20μm, and preferably 0.01 to 10μm.
