The invention refers to a sharpening device for pencils with a wooden body and black or coloured graphite lead. According to the invention, the sharpening device consists of a body (1) with a conical socket with a conical surface (b), which contains a conical helical cutting blade (a) which forms a gliding angle (α), whose end (d) is located at a distance (e) from the axis of the device so that, after sharpening, the central area (f) of the lead (4) gets to have a much smaller diameter than the initial one; the conical, helical blade (2) has a recess side (g) on the blade's gauge and a resting side (h) on the blade's length.
