HOT SPARE SYSTEM AND DATA BASE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To give hot spare redundancy and recovery to a large data base management system by equipping the system with a transaction logger which holds log records of transactions and a transaction processor which commits the log records to a secondary data base. SOLUTION: A primary system 110 is equipped with the transaction logger which holds the log records of transactions and keeps the consistency of the data in a primary data base. The primary system 110 is equipped with the transaction processor and a computer 120 which send the log records to a secondary system. The transaction processor may be a process that a CPU 111 can execute or dedicated hardware and/or software. When the log is sent, the secondary system 120 can relates at least some of the log records to the secondary data base and provides at least partial data base redundancy.
